MEMBERSHIP

New members are welcome. 
We are actively seeking photographers, painters, and sculptors. 

Membership is open to juried artists in the greater Bennington Area (Vermont, New York, and Massachusetts). Please read the Jury Guidelines below, then contact Arline Mayer, Jury Committee Chair, for information about membership fees and responsibilities, or to request an application form.

Jury Guidelines:

The jury is a panel of at least three to five guild members, at least one with knowledge of the medium. A decision will be based on the following submission and art criteria:

 Submission Criteria:
   •  Submission of five (5) visuals for each medium, consisting of at least two actual pieces
(slides, photos, and disks of other work are acceptable).
   •  Open to all media produced within the past 3 years.
   •  Jurors will provide the artist with feedback on their decision.
   •  Artists may resubmit their work.

 Art Criteria:
   •  The artist demonstrates originality in submitted work.
   •  The artist demonstrates evidence of personal creative exploration and voice
      in their chosen medium.
   •  The artist's work should:
      – demonstrate mastery of technical skills
      – be well conceived
      – be expertly executed
      – be free from faults

Participating Artist: annual dues $75
 
   •  Artist receives 80%.
   •  Attend monthly membership meetings.
   •  Belong to a committee and/or hold an office.
   •  Provide an artist bio/statement and photo of work for website and publicity.
   •  Volunteer gallery sitting time is required.
   •  10% discount on all BAG purchases.
