ceramics by Arline Mayer

Arline Mayer creates her pottery in her home in Bennington, Vermont.  She comes from a family of artists in the New England area.  She started studying art at age 6 on her nana's boat, and knew even then that she wanted to be an artist.

She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Bennington College and currently teaches pottery to all ages at the Vermont Arts Exchange, North Bennington, Vermont.

Arline's design sources come from the natural world in her own backyard. She finds many patterns and textures upon close inspection.  She incorporate the textures and symmetry of nature into the clay.  Her forms are influenced by the rich history of pottery.  Arline's sculptures are influenced by her love for the small moments in life that remind us of what is really important — love and family.

The materials that she uses are stoneware clays and high-fire glazes in a variety of colors.  These durable materials make the work very versatile.  It is microwavable and dishwasher safe.
