fiber arts by Gayle + Lars Garrison

Gayle and Lars Garrison raise llamas and alpacas at their small West Mountain Farm
in Stamford, Vermont.

Gayle started her career as a K-3 teacher in California and went on to raise six children. How similar is raising llamas and alpacas to teaching young children?  Ask her!

Lars, with 25+ years in the petroleum business from pumping gas to being president of a major international oil trading business, retired in 1985 to breeding, raising, and marketng llamas.

Their art is created from the down of these fine animals. It wasn't a large leap for them
to use the fiber from the llamas and alpacas. Gayle, an expert knitter, learned to spin in 1990; Lars learned shortly after in 2004.

Both of them enjoy wet and needle felting, creating a wide range of beautiful and useful art ranging from hats to purses to fun creatures.  Everything is both an art form as well as a usable product in your everyday life. They also sell exceptionally fine "llama down," and hand spun yarn for knitting
and rugs.
